The Sweet Addiction is committed to transforming the lives of women in recovery from substance use disorder, domestic violence, sex trafficking, and incarceration. Through skill-building programs, we provide the tools they need to achieve economic independence and personal growth.
We work with women from diverse backgrounds who are actively pursuing long-term recovery. Many have faced significant challenges, including poverty, homelessness, incarceration, and unemployment. Our programs primarily serve women aged 18 and older who have completed or are actively engaged in structured addiction treatment programs. Most of these women come from low-income communities, with little formal job training or work experience, and often carry criminal records that make reintegrating into the workforce particularly challenging.
The barriers these women face extend beyond traditional job-readiness issues. Mandated state programs such as Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and recovery courts often conflict with standard work schedules, complicating their ability to secure employment. Additionally, substance use disorder frequently disrupts education and creates gaps in employment history, while societal stigma further limits job opportunities. National data shows that women in recovery are less likely to have full-time employment, resulting in higher rates of poverty and homelessness. The lack of affordable housing and childcare only amplifies these obstacles.
At The Sweet Addiction, we recognize that these women need more than just job skills—they need life skills, social support, and confidence to rebuild their lives. Our job readiness program is tailored to meet their unique needs, offering a flexible, skill-based career path where creativity, teamwork, and discipline are celebrated. This supportive environment empowers women from all backgrounds to overcome barriers and achieve lasting success in their personal and professional lives.
