Transforming Lives Through Grace and Opportunity
At The Sweet Addiction, every dish we create and every service we provide carries a story of hope, redemption, and triumph. Our mission extends beyond catering and job training—we are here to change lives. Today, we’re highlighting a powerful testimony from one of the incredible women whose life has been transformed through our program.
"When I first got clean, I had not worked in three years. I had been in and out of jail, treatment centers, and had been homeless.
Working with The Sweet Addiction was a blessing! I received job training, support, and above all, GRACE AND LOVE.
My employment with Robin gave me the confidence I lacked in all aspects of my life. I learned to multitask and create my own structure and routine.
I am so grateful for the assistance and guidance I was given in my first year of recovery. I gained experience and lifelong relationships."
The Ripple Effect
When women in our program succeed, their achievements inspire others. They become role models in their communities and contributors to society, breaking the cycles of addiction, incarceration, and homelessness.
It was her 12-step sponsor who referred Ashlynn to The Sweet Addiction when she was let go from her job due to medical appointments and recovery meetings.
Upon first coming to the Sweet Addiction, Ashlynn was intimidated. She didn't know what to expect, as she had never been presented with such an opportunity. She found a safe place, where someone wanted to help her instead of taking from her.
She has learned job and life skills. She understands her worth, and being surrounded by other women has taught her that she is enough. Ashlynn has grown spiritually and emotionally. She has developed skills she never knew she had!
Ashlynn states that The Sweet Addiction and Ms. Robin’s mentorship have been instrumental in her success: “Having someone to believe in me, hold me accountable and push me to put my recovery above everything else has helped me grow.”
From Cara: "I am very grateful and want to give a huge thank you to The Sweet Addiction. This organization gave me a second chance and opportunity to work when others would not (job opportunities are slim being a felon). Being a felon doesn't define who I am.
The Sweet Addiction didn't look down on me because of my past and gave me the opportunity to grow and learn. Because of this job, I am able to stay in my recovery house and continue in my recovery.
I am really appreciative of everything The Sweet Addiction has done for me."
From KJ: "I wanted to take a moment and thank The Sweet Addiction for the multiple opportunities you gave me. You saw something in me that many chose to overlook and for that I am very grateful.
I will carry much from my time with The Sweet Addiction through life as I navigate the unknown, and smile with a confidence newly gained, knowing I can and will achieve many great things!
Not all endings have to be so bleak. I am so thankful for so much you have given."
