Future Plans
Building a Sweeter Tomorrow
At The Sweet Addiction, we’re not just envisioning a better future – we’re working to make it a reality. Our long-term vision goes beyond employment and skill-building to create a supportive environment for lasting change. Our ultimate goal is to establish a transitional community that offers safe and stable housing for participants as they complete the program, leading to homeownership for graduates. This will break the cycle and empower individuals, while strengthening our community.
Our Vision: A Community of Hope and Empowerment
Participants will have the opportunity to work towards owning their own homes, providing stability and a sense of accomplishment.
Residents will engage in an intensive 3-year program designed to foster positive change and personal growth:
Phase I: Financial and Lifestyle Preparation in a Self-Sustaining Community
- Housing: Residents live in 900 sq ft, 3-bedroom duplexes within a community that features a garden, training center, kitchen, and community spaces.
- 3-Year Occupancy: Rent is income-based but not subsidized. Residents set an achievable budget and adhere to it, fostering financial discipline. A portion of rent (e.g., $300/month) is placed into an escrow account for future homeownership.
- Program Focus: Participants commit to personal growth in four key areas:
- Finance Management: Budgeting, credit repair, and financial planning with coaching.
- Household Management: Mentorship for daily routines, meal prep, and household order.
- Parenting: Strengthening Families program teaches communication, discipline, and behavior skills.
- Lifestyle Choices: STOOL program addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Completion Outcome: Successful participants receive their escrow funds exclusively for a home down payment. If unqualified for a mortgage, the funds can apply to Phase II.
Phase II: Transition to Homeownership
- Housing: Residents move into 1200 sq ft, 3-bedroom homes.
- Lease Purchase: Rent for up to 3 years with 25-35% allocated to an escrow account. At the end of the term, these funds serve as a down payment for purchasing the home at market value, ensuring affordability.
Our program will address all aspects of the human experience, equipping participants with the tools they need to thrive.
We'll provide a supportive environment for maintaining a substance-free lifestyle, crucial for long-term success.
Experienced mentors will guide participants through every step of their journey.
Focused training in finance management, household management, and parenting will empower residents to build stable, fulfilling lives.
Belief in Second Chances
We strongly believe that everyone deserves the chance to change their story. Past circumstances do not determine an individual's value or potential. Dignity, stability, love, and support create the foundation for success—both personally, professionally, and within the community.
